makers of ritalin should sue all networks

For years. network television has "inferred" or blantantly stated that ritalin is dangerous for children.
There is no scientific evidence to confirm this. In fact, 50 years of research has proven the opposite. Ritalin is safe and effecitive when used properly and monitored.
Therefore, this is slander and defamatory.
If you will notice, the networks have stopped attacking ritalin (about 1995-1996)

This is when they finally talked to me, after constantly airing programs ridiculing ritalin.

I simply asked them: Why are you asking me about medication? I am an expert on ADD. Medication is merely the treatment.

After a few other questions, they apparently got with the attorneys and discovered that they had put themselves in a precarious position.

They discovered that in one of my books, I pointed out numerous medications for ADD, not just ritalin.

They were "slandering" one particular product and not others. Attorneys know what this can lead too.

You can't just pick a product and say it is dangerous or harmful without eviedence.

Example: Networks can't just start saying: "snickers are dangerous and harmful for children".
They know they would be immediately sued by the company that makes snickers.

They can talk about the GENERAL topic of CHOCOLATE without much liability. They are not referring to a particular product.

Regarding Ritalin: Networks always focused on RITALIN and not the general topic of MEDICATION used for treating ADD. This is defamatory.

They are lucky that the makers of Ritalin have decided to NOT sue them for defamation or slander.

This is why the networks have stopped doing programs on ADD and ritalin.

They also avoid me because they know that if they give me publicity and people read my books and other writings, this topic will be more openly discussed.

They don't want this. They could still be sued and they know it.

This is why I have resigned myself to the fact that the networks will NEVER give me publicity.
That's o.k. I am satisfied with not being that well known among the general public.

Ritalin makers could sue Scientology

Scientology has slandered Ritalin for over 20 years (in my opinion).

They have repeatedly made comments about ritalin that are not true. They have tried to convince parents that Ritalin is dangerous and "kills".

There is NO scientific evidence to support any of their absurd claims.
In fact, 60 years of research proves that Ritalin is safe and effective when used properly. Millions of children have taken Ritalin with absolutely no severe reactions whatsoever!
NONE!!!

I have testified as an expert witness in child custody cases in which Ritalin was an issue.
We always won.

I will volunteer my expertise to the makers of Ritalin if they decide to sue scientology.
I'll do it for free! Scientology has harmed too many children because of their false and absurd claims.

They won't sue, even though scientology has brought "petty" lawsuits against them. (they lost or withdrew them after a time.)

Scientology is lucky that the makers of Ritalin are scientists and more concerned with helping people than going after critics.

The makers of Ritalin would win! I guarantee it.

Tom Cruise is wrong about Ritalin and ADD

ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain.
The only treatment effecitive is medication.

Tom is an Actor and should stay out of areas that require more expertise than he has.

He has harmed many people because of his influence.

He has influenced parents and professional to NOT use medication for ADD children.

We will never know how many and who these people are.
However, research shows that those with ADD and are treated with medication, have a better outcome than those who don't use medication.

Tom, and his scientology friends, have been successful in influencing people to not use Ritalin.

This is unfortunate. Some of their lives were ruined because of a high school dropout who became rich and famous.

montel was anti-ritalin-Has he changed?

In the 1990s Montel williams did many shows on ADD and medication.
He was extremely Anti-ritalin and anti-ADD.

He said his son had ADD but he would never put him on medication.
I wrote him and told him that I felt sorry for his wife and child. He, in all his glory, was going to allow his son suffer with a physical disorder that could easily be treated.
His wife is the one who would have to put up with the problems because Montel,The Star, was too busy pontificating on TV.
No response.
In the last few years, a few things have changed in Montels life.
He suffers from chronic pain.

He doesn't say it, but pain medication is what will relieve his suffering.

Also, he has been advertising with a company that provides medication to those who can't afford it.

He has obviously had a change of heart about the benefits of medication.

It always turns out this way.
When YOU personally start suffering, you change your views on medication.
You now discover what many of us have known for years.

Good on his "enlightenment".

Unfortunately, it doesn't help all the people he influenced over the years and convinced to NOT use medication.

You celebrities need to watch your mouths.
What you do is not important. You are merely entertainers.

Tom cruise has ADD and it shows

Tom Cruise rarely admits that He was diagnosed as ADD as a child.

This is probably one reason he hates ADD so much. ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain.

It is a DISORDER.
His ego apparently will not allow him to accept the fact that he has a common disorder.
This is one reason he wants to deny the existence of ADD.

ADD effects every part of ones life, in some way. Maybe just a little in some areas, and a lot in others.
Tom, and critics of Ritalin, probably think that Toms "success" proves that medication is not needed.

Well, let us discuss the word SUCCESS.
Tom dropped out of High school.
Divorced Nicole Kidman
Acts immature on national TV (jump on oprahs couch)
On TV, makes ridiculous comments like "there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance"

Is this success?
Yes he is rich and famous. However, I could name numerous dictators that owned countries and known all over the world. Were they "SUCCESSFUL"?
I don't think so.
For every ADD person(untreated with medication) who becomes rich and famous, many more than that end up with very bad out comes. Research proves this.

This is why medication is recommended. We don't know who is going to be successful and who is going to end up in prison, addicted to drugs, or dead.

The research is clear, those who are treated with medication have a better outcome than those who don't.

By the way: What would have happened if Tom had been treated with medication?

Perhaps he would have been even MORE successful.

scientologists hate me and my books

I understand why scientologists dislike me.
Primarily because I have a web site about their "leader" Tom Cruise.

I point out just how illogical Tom Cruise is on his views of ADD, chemical imbalances and medication like Ritalin.

This upsets his 'FOLLOWERS' because it reveals Tom Cruise to be a "pseudo-intellectual".

Consequently, it reflects on Scientology followers as also being "pseudo-intellectual".

Sorry folks, but this is what happens when you get out of your area of expertise and telling the world silly things like 'THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE.

Scientology should be embarased to be associated with such ridiculous views.

Who can take scientology seriously after reading something like this?

They also hate me because I am the only ADD expert to OPENLY challenge them.

Everyone else is afraid to mention their name.
Even Tom Cruise's sisters get involved. It is rather funny.

Dr. Hallowell is no ADD expert

Dr. Hallowell, like Thom Hartmann , has written several books on ADD.
Unlike Hartmann, Dr. Hallowell does have credentials. He is a psychiatrist.

Dr hallowell also says that he himself, has ADD.

My response to this;
WALKING INTO A GARAGE DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN AUTOMOBILE!

Dr. Hallowell knows something about ADD. No doubt about it.
However, after reading his books, it is obvious that his knowledge is limited.
He doesn't rely on very much research to support his views.

In fact, there are several things that reveal how much he DOESN'T KNOW.

He contributed comments in Thom Hartmanns books. Thom Hartmann is not an expert on ADD in any way or form. He is a radio personality who seized on the popularity of ADD to make some money.
He doesn't know that ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain.
His books have harmed thousands of parents and professionals to DENY medication treatment.

Yet, Dr. Hallowell gives this man praise for his books on ADD.
Dr. Hallowell apparently doesn't know enough about ADD to understand this or he is blinded by ambition, celebrity, and money.

I would NEVER give a comment to an author that I knew was harming thousands of children with his foolish views on ADD. They couldn't pay me enough.

Dr. Hallowell apparently has a SUPERFICIAL understanding of the problems that ADD causes or he wouldn't be doing what he is doing.
Dr. Hallowell is definitely a EXPERT on marketing ADD and his books. That doesn't make him an expert on ADD.
On his web site, he is promoting a SEMINAR on couples with ADD. $795 for a couple of days.

Come on! How superficial can you get?

Children with ADD and their families are falling apart because of this disorder. Yet Dr. Hallowell is doing a seminar for couples that can afford $795 for a seminar. Good grief!

You should be ashamed of yourself Dr Hallowell. Capitalizing on a serious disorder and the pain of thousands of children.
You sir, are no ADD expert. You are an expert on EXPLOITING ADD.

"natural" ADD cures are silly and don't work

Anyone who suggests that "natural" treatments are effective for ADD are wrong.

They are probably selling something.
They are DEFINITELY not experts on ADD. If you know what ADD is, then you would automatically know that medication is the treatment of choice.

Think logically: If someone takes allergy medicine and their "symptoms" of ADD disappear---guess what?
They had ALLERGIES---NOT ADD.
The "symptoms" that someone was labeling as ADD were actually symptoms caused by Allergies.
You treat the allergies, their symptoms go away.

You DID NOT treat ADD. You treated Allergies.
Over 50 years of research has strongly confirmed that ADD is a chemical imbalance in the Brain and medication is the most (if not the only) treatment effective.

Anyone (regardless of their credentials, experience, and books) who doesn't know this is not an expert on ADD and you should get away from them as quick as possible.

Your childs life may depend on it.

oprahs anti-ritalin stance has harmed many kids

Oprah has helped a lot of people. Unfortunately, she has harmed more than that.
She has done programs that were anti-add and anti-ritalin on many occasions (in the 1990s).
Her good friends, scientologist tom cruise, john travolta, and kristi alley, have been on the show and said negaitve and FALSE things about ADD and ritalin.

Oprah basically agreed with them by not having an ADD expert on to correct the falseinformation.

My point: This influenced thousands of parents, and some professionals, to DENY children proper medication treatment (ie: ritalin and others).

I tried to get on the show . No response. I suggested she get other experts on the show, no response.

Today, she MAY have changed her views.
Unfortunately, this doesn't erase the influence she had on thousands of parents back then.
The harm has been done.

Oprah has a big ego like most rich celebrities. She has a hard time admitting she was wrong.

The only way she could reverse the negative influence is to do a program and state clearly that SHE WAS WRONG ABOUT RITALIN AND ADD.

This will never happen. She knows that she may be lible for giving the public false information about medication. Thousands of parents who were influenced by her, may be extremely angry that their child never received the proper treatment for ADD.

The parents who will be most angry will be those whose ADD child ended up in prison, a drug abuser, or dead.
Who knows what would have happened if they had been treated with medication?

Research answers that question. It clearly states that those NOT treated with medication are more likely to have a negative outcome than those who WERE TREATED with medication.

The rich and famous should watch what they say about serious disorders.

SUPPORT anything you want, but NEVER publicly try to influence the public to NOT seek treatment for ANY disorder.

You have overstepped your bounds

Pseudo-experts on ADD do harm to many

There are many people, some have professional credentials, that know very little about ADD.
Yet, they "give the impression " they have expertise.

Most of the time, no one has ever asked them directly: Are you an expert on ADD?

They avoid these type of questions because they know the answer: NO.

Those that propose "NATURAL" treatments know absolutely NOTHING about ADD.
If they did, they wouldn't propose such silly treatments.

Wake up people: They are SELLING something.
Before they can sell you on THEIR treatment, they first have to RE-DEFINE ADD.
They create their own VISION of what ADD is, and then tell you why THEIR product is best.

They have harmed THOUSANDS of children with their influence. They have caused professional and parents to DENY their child proper treatment (medication) just because they want to make money off their product.

more children need ritalin

Any professional that denies that medication is the most effective treatment, is NOT an expert on ADD.
You should ignore anything he says.
He is merely trying to SELL something.

Usually, they are trying to SELL their services by getting you to believe it is better than medication.

Don't you find it odd that the professionals who criticize medication, just happen to make money from the treatment that THEY happen to provide.

  • Those who sell vitamins claim that this is better than medication
  • Those who sell counseling, claim this is better than medication
  • Those who sell hypnosis claim this is better than medication.
  • Those who sell relaxation techniques claim this is better than medication.

Don't you see what is going on?

By creating fear about medication (unfounded, by the way), these people are trying to convince parents to spend their MONEY with them and their treatments instead of medication.

ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain and medication (ritalin and others), is the only thing that will "balance" this chemical.

Enough with the ridiculous claims.

Thom Hartmann is not an expert on ADD

Thom Hartmann is not an expert on ADD. Yet, he has written several books on the topic as if he is.

It is impossible for him to be an expert on ADD because he basically doesn't think it exists.

He doesn't know the basics of ADD:
  • He doesn't know ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain
  • He doesn't know that medication is the only treatment that will "balance" this chemical.
  • He doesn't know the learning problems that ADD causes
  • He hasn't worked with thousands of ADD families and children

Thom Hartmann is nothing but an announcer trying to make money off any topic he can.

Unfortunately, he has harmed thousands of ADD children with his influence.

His false and misleading information has caused parents and professionals to DENY proper treatment (medication), to thousands of children.

His publishers (the biggest in the world) should be held accountable for giving such false information to the public.

more children need ritalin

Contrary to what the anti-medication fanatics think, more children should be taking ritalin and other medications for ADD.
The surgeon generals report (1998-1999) confirms this. It states that ADD is UNDERDIAGNOSED and UNDER-TREATED.
In other words: A lot of kids have ADD but they are not diagnosed or treated for it.
The anti-medication fanatics have scared professionals and parents to such a degree that they don't dare give their child medication.

This is unfortunate for thousands of children.

medication critics

Those who criticize medication are un-informed and need to read.
especially scientologists like tom cruise and his friends.
If they would read a book un-related to scientology, they may learn something about the rest of the world.
